About Sump Pump Repair Guys in Joliet

We repair sump pumps and nothing else. No waterproofing upsell, no membership plan. You get a diagnosis, a written price, and a full-cycle test before we leave.

Joliet is one of the few cities that will actually help pay for a sump pump, pit and circuit. There is a condition attached, and it is a fair one.

The city will fund the pump, on one condition

Take your footing tiles off the sanitary sewer and Joliet reimburses up to 4,500 dollars. Here is exactly what that buys, and the one line item it does not.

House Outside pit about 5 ft out outside cleanout dedicated electric circuit Covered pit, pump, PVC, cleanout, wiring Not covered: putting your garden back
Reimbursement up to 4,500 dollars, first come first served until the funds run out.
  • The work

Cut the tiles off the sewer

A contractor excavates outside where the footing tiles meet the sanitary sewer, disconnects them, and routes that groundwater to a sump pit sited outside the house.

  • The kit

    Pit, pump, cleanout, circuit

The reimbursement covers the external pump and pit, PVC replacement up to six feet from the house, an outside cleanout and the electrical connection.

  • The catch

    Restoration is on you

Putting the lawn, drive or landscaping back afterwards is not covered, and funds are first come first served until they are exhausted.

  • The point

    Why they pay for it

Footing tiles piped into a sanitary sewer are inflow. Removing them frees capacity that would otherwise end up in somebody’s basement, including yours.

How the city finds an illegal connection

If a smoke test has been done on your street, this is what the crew was doing. Smoke is pushed into the sewer, and wherever it comes out of private property, something is connected that should not be.

Sewer main, filled with smoke Smoke at a downspout Smoke at a window well Both mean a cross connection Nothing enters the house. The smoke is harmless.
Dyed water flooding follows, to confirm and locate whatever the smoke found.
  • Two sources, two definitions

Infiltration is groundwater entering through defective joints and cracks. Inflow is water entering through illegal connections such as sump pumps and cross connections from storm sewers.

  • Forty miles a year, on camera

The city has cleaned and televised forty miles of sanitary sewer annually since 2013, with the intention of having the entire system inspected by 2027.

  • Roots will not qualify you

For the overhead sewer programme a backup must be caused by excess water in the sanitary main. Backups from root intrusion or lateral defects are not eligible.

  • Storm connections must go first

All storm water connections, footing tiles included, have to be off the sanitary sewer before that programme will consider your property.

What we repair

  • 01

    Float switch

The most common failure. If it runs when you lift the float by hand, this is it.

  • 02

    Check valve

Failed valves drop the discharge column back into the pit seconds after shutoff.

  • 03

    Impeller and motor

Grinding, humming or tripping. We test under load before recommending replacement.

  • 04

    Outside pits

Exterior basins silt up and freeze in ways indoor ones never do. They need checking on a different schedule.

  • 05

    Discharge line

Blocked, crushed, frozen, or terminating where the water simply returns.

  • 06

    Backup systems

Battery load testing and changeover checks, because storms take the power out.

Joliet sump pump questions, answered

Will the city really pay for a sump pump?

Toward one, yes. Disconnect your footing tile from the sanitary sewer and the reimbursement covers the external pump and pit, PVC up to six feet from the house, an outside cleanout and the electrical connection, up to 4,500 dollars. Restoring the disturbed ground is not included.

Why is the pit outside rather than in the basement?

Because the work happens where the footing tiles meet the sewer, which is outside the foundation. The tiles are cut off there and routed into an exterior pit, and the pump discharges around five feet from the house.

Does an outside pit need different care?

Yes. Exterior basins collect silt and leaf debris faster, and they freeze in ways an indoor pit never does. Check the lid, the intake and the discharge before winter rather than during it.

Smoke came out of my downspout. What does that mean?

That something on your property is connected to the sanitary sewer that should not be. The smoke is harmless and does not enter the house. Dyed water flooding is usually used afterwards to confirm exactly where the connection is.

My backup was caused by roots. Do I qualify for the overhead programme?

No. That programme requires a documented backup caused by excess water in the sanitary main. Backups from root intrusion or defects in your lateral are excluded, and any storm connections must be removed first.

How fast can someone come out?

Same day across most of Will County, and after hours when water is already coming in. Most parts-level repairs finish in the same visit.

Take the tiles off the sewer. Keep the pump working.

Emergency repair, diagnostics, pit and valve testing, or a dry-weather inspection. Serving Joliet and all of Will County.
