Sump Pump Repair Services

Every Part Of The System, One Trade

The pit, the switch, the valve, the motor and the line that carries the water away. We repair sump pumps and nothing else, which is why we recognise most faults in minutes.

What we repair

Sump pump repairs we handle

Most sump pump failures are parts-level, and a repair genuinely holds. We work on the whole system rather than just the unit, because a new pump in an undersized pit with a failed valve dies exactly the way the last one did.

  • 01

    Sump pump diagnostics

A manual lift test separates a switch failure from a motor failure in under a minute. We identify the exact fault and its price before quoting anything, so you are not paying replacement rates for a parts-level problem.

  • 02

    Float switch repair

The most common failure point on any pump. Jammed floats, failed switches and tethered floats catching on the basin wall. Often the difference between a small part and a bill several times larger.

  • 03

    Float switch adjustment

When the on and off trip points sit too close together the pump short-cycles, and the switch destroys itself. We set the heights properly so the pump runs long enough to earn each cycle.

  • 04

    Check valve replacement

A failed valve lets the water in the discharge pipe fall straight back into the pit, refilling it seconds after shutoff. Small part, large effect on how hard the pump has to work and how long it lasts.

  • 05

    Motor repair

Humming with no flow, tripped thermal overloads, failing bearings. We test the motor under load and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether the unit has been shortened past the point of value.

  • 06

    Impeller repair

Grinding and rattling usually mean debris in the vortex impeller or clearances worn open by grit. We open the unit, clear the obstruction and check whether the wear has already cost the pump its output.

  • 07

    Sump pit cleaning

Silt and iron ochre settle in the basin, block the intake screen and grind through the switch. In older housing with aged footer drains, fines accumulate steadily and quietly shorten every pump that goes in.

  • 08

    Pit and basin repair

Cracked, collapsing or improperly seated basins let soil and silt in continuously. Older homes often have pits cut in decades after the house was built, and they were not always done well.

  • 09

    Basin resizing

An undersized basin makes every pump short-cycle no matter how good it is. Fitting a larger pump into it makes the problem worse, not better. Sizing follows pit volume, total lift and measured inflow.

  • 10

    Discharge line repair

Blocked, crushed by shifting soil, disconnected underground, or split at a joint. We trace the line along its whole run rather than assuming the fault is at the end you can see.

  • 11

    Discharge rerouting

The most common expensive mistake we correct. A line terminating a few feet from the wall sends water straight back to the footer drains and into the pit, so the pump runs continuously and wears out early.

  • 12

    Frozen discharge line repair

A badly pitched line ices solid in winter and the pump has nowhere to send water. We thaw and clear it, then correct the pitch and termination so it drains fully between cycles instead of freezing again.

  • 13

    Backup pump service

Storms take the power out at the exact moment the pump is needed most. We service the backup unit and confirm the changeover actually triggers, because an untested backup is not a backup.

  • 14

    Battery load testing

A battery that shows a healthy voltage can still fail under load. We test it the way the pump will actually use it, which is the only test that means anything.

  • 15

    High water alarm service

The alarm is the last warning before water reaches the floor, so it needs to work and be audible from where you sleep. We test, repair and reposition them.

  • 16

    Short-cycling diagnosis

Switching on and off every few seconds is a symptom, not a diagnosis. It usually traces back to a failed check valve, an undersized basin or overlapping float trip points, and each needs a different fix.

  • 17

    Water source diagnosis

Sometimes basement water is not a pump problem at all. Sewer surcharge, a failing private lateral, a downspout discharging at the foundation or a grading fault. We name it and tell you who handles it.

  • 18

    Full system inspection

Booked in calm weather, before the wet season or the thaw. Every component tested under water, with a plain list of what is sound, what is near the end of its life and what needs attention now.

  • 19

    Sump pump replacement

When a unit is genuinely finished. Past seven to ten years of age, or a repair estimate reaching about half the cost of a new unit installed. Below that line we repair, and we say so.

  • 20

    Emergency service

Water already on the floor, alarm sounding, pump silent. Nights, weekends and holidays. We get the system back in service first and have the longer conversation afterwards.

Tell us what the pump is doing and we will tell you what it likely is.

Free diagnosis over the phone, a written price before any work starts, and someone answering at two in the morning. Emergency repairs, inspections and everything above.
